As I sit here, Caressing and caring While you Hanging Onto your last threads of life I can¡¯t help but remember our times together. You the joyful kitten, The energetic furball, Attacking everything that moved, While I watched, Laughing, As you pounced on my toes.
And then You entered maturity And you were silent but graceful Entering the room with poise. But still, The kit in you had not died.
But as you grew older You were still silent And graceful But your amber eyes lost their light Their luster Their energy, And I couldn¡¯t help but watch As you faded away.
And now, I sit by you Caressing, caring The last of you As you fade away before my eyes The night approaches.
I will always remember that kit. Always.
