Title: Daily Life at Central Middle School
Author: Lightningstar
Pairing: CainxSceiska, RoyxRiza
Summary: All your favorite FMA military officers go to middle school in Central! What will the morning contain for them?
Editor: None
Cover: None
Author's Notes: This is a fanfic of Fullmetal Alchemist. =) Sorry the title is so long. xP I had trouble referring to most of them using their first names, because I call all of them except the women by their last names. =3 Well, anyway, if you haven't read the series, here's a note about each character:
Cain Fuery: He's the short, nerdy technician of the group; ranked Master Sergeant. He's also my favorite character. *glomps*
Sceiska: She's not actually a military officer, she's just a bookworm who was formerly a librarian. She can memorize books word for word after one reading.
Maes Hughes: He is the only officer that has a family and obsesses over pictures of his daughter, Elysia. Hence the cat pictures. xD Ranked Lieutenant Colonel.
Roy Mustang: He's got a fetish for miniskirts and loves dogs, not to mention that he's a big womanizer. Ranked Colonel.
Jean Havoc: He's always got a cigarette in his mouth, hence the toothpick. Ranked Second Lieutenant.
Riza Hawkeye: True to her name, she's an amazing shot. She's a very strong and sensible female, always having to put up with Roy's antics. Ranked First Lieutenant.
The halls of Central Middle School were usually packed even before the bell rang for classes to start, and today was no different. Cain Fuery, the short, nerdy kid, stood at his locker; lazily putting books in and taking them back out again to rearrange them. He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose with his index finger and finally closed his locker, having brought out the books he needed.
"Cain!" he heard his name being called and he spun around. Trotting up to him was Sceiska, his best friend. She wore her usual brown turtleneck and had on nearly square glasses with thick, black frames. Her hair was in a short, neat haircut to keep it out of her face, and she had a large novel tucked in her arms. "I've been looking for you everywhere!"
The harsh light of the hallway cast dramatic shadows onto her face, and Cain smiled weakly. He had to admit that she looked very pretty, and he straightened his back as she approached.
"Hi, Sceiska," he greeted his friend shyly. "Sorry you couldn't find me. I was looking everywhere for my calculator this morning. I had no idea where it disappeared to, and I was scared I had lost it!"
Sceiska grinned. Cain had told her millions of times how attached he was to his fancy scientific calculator. "Did you find it?" she asked.
"Of course." Cain pulled out his T-85 and smiled.
"Where was it?" Sceiska chuckled.
Cain looked down at his feet in embarrassment. "It was in my backpack, as usual." He rubbed the back of his neck with his palm nervously.
His friend laughed. "You never fail to surprise me, Cain," she told him, ruffling his black hair. "Come on, let's go find the others."
'The others' referred to Maes Hughes, Roy Mustang, Jean Havoc, and Riza Hawkeye, the pair's other friends. Cain looked around frantically for them and then sighed with relief. "There's Maes and Roy," he announced, heading over to the opposite side of the hallway. The navy blue lockers lined the wall on either side, and the two raven-haired boys were leaning on them lazily.
"So, Roy," Maes was saying as Sceiska and Cain walked up, "have you seen the wonderful pictures I took of my cat lately? Oh, she's just the cutest little thing! Her name's Muffin."
"I know, Maes," Roy sighed; he had obviously heard this story a dozen times in a row. "I know who your cat is, and I've seen plenty of pictures. You've shown me five just this morning. Besides, I'm more of a dog person, anyway."
Maes opened his mouth to respond when he saw Cain walk up, Sceiska behind him. "Hey you two!" he exclaimed, his green eyes sparkling. "Have you seen the pictures of my cat yet?"
Mustang pulled Fuery towards him, tugging on his light blue shirt which was tucked neatly into his long, tan pants. "Don't listen to him," he muttered. "Once he starts talking about Muffin, he never stops."
Sceiska blinked, her brown eyes enlarged slightly behind her glasses. "Maes, have you seen Jean or Riza? We've been looking for them as well."
"We're here," Jean Havoc's voice announced. The whole group turned to face him. His messy blond hair was long on top, but shaved a little in the back, giving him an odd, gangly appearance. He wore long, pale jeans and a red t-shirt. A toothpick stuck out of the corner of his mouth; though no one knew why. Riza Hawkeye, in a plain yellow t-shirt and slim, dark jeans, was standing beside him.
Cain smiled at them both as he slipped his calculator into his backpack. "Hi Jean, hi Riza," he greeted them warmly.
Riza smiled at him. "Morning, Cain," she replied coolly. Her long blond hair was pinned up flat on the back of her head with a black clip, and her bangs hung to one side. Cain felt Roy tense up beside him; it was obvious how much his friend liked Riza.
"Look, Jean!" exclaimed Maes, withdrawing a wallet-sized picture from his pocket and shoving it into Havoc's face. "Isn't my cat the cutest thing you've ever seen? She's just so adorable; I couldn't resist taking all these pictures!"
Jean backed away, chewing on his toothpick. "Not now, Maes; the bell is going to ring soon."
All six friends turned to look at the clock on the opposite wall above the lockers. It was nearly 9:00. Roy slid up next to Riza and said, "you know what, Hawkeye? You'd look great in a miniskirt."
Riza rolled her eyes and jabbed Roy's side with her elbow. "Nice try, lover boy," she snarled; Cain and Sceiska couldn't help but laugh. Their chuckles were suddenly drowned out by the sharp ringing of a school bell, and everyone struggled to get their books straight before class started.
"Come on, Cain!" Sceiska called, "let's go to math class!" She grabbed Cain's hand and dragged him along behind her. The bespectacled boy couldn't help but blush, his cheeks dusting with a light and rosy pink. Jean followed behind them, smirking at Cain's flushed face, and Roy, Riza, and Maes walked the other way, Riza staying a fair distance from Roy.
Cain could tell that it was going to be a very interesting day.
