Gone
Eyes of grief, of loss, of sorrow, Staring off into tomorrow, Gazing past the sunlit slope, Desperate for a ray of hope,
The scalding sun's just a disguise, Shielding from all the lies. It's really just a simple ploy, To blind us with artificial joy.
But if you open up your mind, You'll find knowledge that passed you by. For when fear and death and sadness reign, You'll see the evil the world contains.
We strecth so far, just for peace and love, The pure white feathers of the dove. But when we trip and fatally fall, We wonder why we lose it all.
When life seems good, we soon forget, Our happiness hangs by a thread. Oblivious to the impending truth, That life takes advantage of foolish youth.
When Death arrives in his dark cloak, Laughing cruelly while we choke. Reveling in our suffering, And the veil of shadow to us he brings.
There's no sense of feeling but numb. Lose who we are and where we come from. Forget that life still goes on, When your one true love is gone.
